Research Interests:Structural Engineering, Microstructure of Concrete, Characteristics of flyash – its mechanism in concrete. Self-compacting concrete- properties of members made up of SCCLime-Flyash bricks, Geo-polymer concrete. Characterisation of manufactured sand, crusher dust, stone powder slurry and their uses. Behaviour of beams and columns with retrofit/confinement etc. Passive confinement of concrete- concrete filled tubes with different materials. Fibre based composites. Electron microscopy in concrete, nano- materials in structural engineering. Quality assurance of concrete roads. NDT assessment, retrofitting and Rehabilitation of structures.  Behaviour of masonry.  Sandwich slabs.

 

Brief Research Profile: Flyash utilization and management in Kota city during 1997-2001. Fellowship in IIT Kanpur in 1999. Different facets of concrete and structural engineering in IIT Roorkee during 2001-2005 includingassistance in establishment of lab facilities and consultancy projects. Has supervised twenty nine M Tech and about fifty UG projects (till 2020) related to experimental work, some of which with use of precise instrumentation- TEM, SEM, EDX, Servo-controlled UTM etc.Presently guiding eight scholars for PhD and ten for M Tech. Has reviewed twelve research papers -fourfor Elsevier and eight for Indian Concrete Journal.

Achievements

1.Coordinating Accreditation related developments in the Institute since 2015, culminating in Accreditation of one MTech course in 2016 and one B Tech course in 2019.

2.As member Board of Studies – Civil Engineering, played active role in review of curriculum of B Tech – Civil Engineering, introduced new subject on Composites, new topics in subjects of Design of Steel Structures, Concrete Technology, Repair and Rehab of Structures during 2017-2020.

3.Pioneered as Chairman, committee for revision of question paper pattern, which formed significant step in exam reforms in 2015.

4.Collected curriculum of various technical Universities and persuaded faculty members for inclusion of Course Outcomes alongwith syllabus in 2020.

5.Coordinated and contributed significantly in revision of M Tech Structural Engineering curriculum of the University in 2020.

6.Pioneered curriculum development for new courses of study at Institute- B Tech Petroleum during 2012-2015.

7.Involved in conceiving Centre of Nanotechnology, and curriculum development of M Tech Nanotechnology during 2011-2013.

8.Studied Refinery, related technologies of Petrochemical, assisted Principal Secretary, Govt of Rajasthan in assessing training needs of skilled manpower development in view of establishing a Petroleum refinery in state, liasoned with stakeholders and instrumental in starting a B Tech course in Petrochemical in the state of Rajasthan in 2013.
